The British group Oldham was founded in the United Kingdom by Joseph Oldham in 1840.
In 1949, Edgar Oldham, a descendant of the founder and president of Oldham & Son Ltd based near Manchester, established the Société française des procédés Oldham (SFPO) in Arras.
The Arras site produced and distributed miner’s cap lamp batteries, intended not only for Charbonnages de France but also for other European and African companies.
At that time, 150,000 lamps were produced annually, and 80% of miners were equipped with them! ⛏️
As a result, from 1956 onwards, safety became one of the company’s main focuses, allowing it to continue its operations in Northern France where it was established.
In the photo, you can see the 30 people who worked in Arras at that time, as well as the premises located on Boulevard de la Scarpe!
Saving lives, protecting assets, operations, and the environment. These have been the missions of Teledyne Oldham Simtronics for 75 years.
